Last Weeks as a Family of Four

Tomorrow morning, on April 13, I will be 40 weeks and 4 days pregnant and I will have my third c-section to deliver our first son. I’ve been on maternity leave for a month (thank you California!) and have spent the past four weeks preparing for our newest’s arrival, relaxing (a little!), and spending time with the girls. For posterity, here are a few of the fun things that we’ve done before adding a fifth to our family:

Pretend City

Sand Play at Pretend City

Shopping at Pretend City’s Trader Joe’s

Water Play at Pretend City

Crafts at Pretend City

Bowers Kidseum

Diego and Frida at the Bowers Museum

Exploring the Bowers Kidseum

Irvine Spectrum Rides

Riding the Ferris Wheel at the Irvine Spectrum

Riding the Ferris Wheel at the Irvine Spectrum

Riding the Train at the Irvine Spectrum

Aliso Viejo Children’s Concert

Butterfly Face Painting at the Children’s Concert

Dancing at the Children’s Concert

Boomers! Irvine

First Time Putt-Putting!

Teacup Ride at Boomers!

Carousel Ride at Boomers!

We also went to birthday parties at the park (bounce houses!) and indoor playards, story time at the library, family night at Chick-fil-A, and out for frozen yogurt. Tomorrow, it all changes – again! The rest of the summer will be full of fun activities, too, but we’ll have a baby in tow. Here we go!

A lot of fun activities. You are great parents. Hope you can keep up the energy level with those sleepless nights you are anticipating. Maybe he’ll sleep through the night early on. By the way… how will your blog name change? The Chambers Family B.C. (before children) was a great segue to The Chambers Family A.D. (after daughters)? Maybe it will become a dental office with a smiling set of teeth… The Chambers Family, D.D.S.

    • Carrie says:

I think the blog name will remain the same with only a slight addition to the meaning – after daughters (and a son). Or maybe there is another more inclusive name for all three children that starts with D?? I’m open to more suggestions!

    AD = After Descendants?

I am a long time friend of Robin, and I found this blog via Diane’s blog – I know we have met a handful of times, though I don’t expect you to remember me. I hope I haven’t overstepped my bounds by commenting! But much congratulations to you and Dan and your beautiful, expanding family.

    • Diane Chambers says:

Aah! Excellent choice for meaning of A.D. suffix. Much much better than a dental office…

    • Carrie says:

I do remember you from Robin’s wedding! And from general family conversations (you are well loved by the Chambers and Oxenford families!). Thank you so much for commenting and for your great blog name suggestion!

Wow – what a lot of stuff to do while 9 months pregnant! I am very glad you got to spend this time with the girls though; I am sure it will pay off when the baby comes and your attention is diverted again.
