Hiking on the Maple Springs Trail

We ventured out last Saturday on a dreary, cloudy day to Silverado Canyon to hike a few miles on the Maple Springs Trail in the Cleveland National Forest. Mostly, we wanted to let the pup run off some energy off leash. Snoopy had a grand time hiking and we simply loved seeing him so free and happy. If we get this much joy from seeing our puppy so happy, I can’t imagine how we’ll flip when/if we see our own kids enjoying themselves someday.

It’s all fun and games, though, until someone (ahem…Snoopy!) comes home with a tick burrowed into him:-( We didn’t see the tick on top of his head until Wednesday night and at first we weren’t even sure that it was a tick. But then I saw its gross brown body and disgusting little black legs and freaked out. I’d never seen a tick on an animal or human before. We pulled the tick off of him and are hoping his tick bump heals soon.

Ick. Ticks freak me out. Why can’t you just bite me and go away?
