Wine Makes Us Happy

Oh we do love our wine! Deep reds, be to specific. Last year, after a lovely dinner with our friends, the Steins, where they served us a Tobin James bottle of wine, we joined the James Gang (their wine club) and were thus invited to their end-of-summer BBQ in Paso Robles. We ate barbecued oysters, tenderloin, sausages, garlic toast, heirloom tomato salad, cheesecake, and much more. And we drank – lots of reds, just like we like to do. We also danced and all around had a very fun evening.

The day following the BBQ, on our ride home, we stopped at the Wild Horse Winery to taste their wines; visit Floyd, their llama who protects their sheep from coyotes; and check out their organic vegetable garden.

For lunch, we had to stop at Firestone Grill in San Luis Obispo and eat their BBQ tri-tip sandwiches. My husband ate these for five years while attending architecture school at Cal Poly and I’ve become as enamored with them as him. They are truly the best tri-tip sandwiches you will ever eat!

Wild Horse Winery! So jealous! I love the complexity of their wines!

  2. Oh, how I miss wine! You’ll have to sneak us out to a place or two when we finally make our way out there, hopefully in March.

For sure! We’re going to go to Napa/Sonoma when we’re in the Bay Area over Thanksgiving, but we’ll definitely have to hit up a few local Livermore wineries when we’re back up there to meet Baby O in March!
