What’s in a name?

We have titled this blog, The Chambers Family – B.C. – where B.C. stands for “before children.” Dan was inspired with this phrase by his father, who often referred to the time before he and Dan’s mother began a family as “B.C.” So, that’s our name.

Our purpose is to chronicle, especially for our family and friends who live far away, the fun things that we do before we have kids (see: Our List). I’ve heard that taking a baby bungee jumping and white-water rafting is frowned upon. And apparently wineries don’t offer juice box tastings. And dragging a toddler up Half Dome will slow things down for other climbers. So, there’s lots of things that we need to do now – or else we’ll have to wait quite awhile before attemping them in the future. We’re so excited to be married to each other and to have this time now to, well, have fun – just with each other. We’re looking forward to the fun times ahead!

Since we are now the parents of a beautiful baby girl, we have changed the name of the site from “The Chambers Family – B.C.” to “The Chambers Family – A.D.” where “A.D.” stands for “After Daughter.”
